Licensing

Gestura AI software is source-available under the Gestura Prosperity Software License 1.1 (GPSL-1.1).

One license across the Gestura ecosystem — Gestura.app, the Haptica Harmony firmware, the simulator, and our developer tooling. Free for most users; larger commercial operations contribute a small share of revenue to sustain development.

Our Philosophy

Anyone should be able to study, learn from, and build upon our work — and the project should be able to sustain itself. The GPSL keeps our source open to read, modify, and share, while asking commercial operations above $1M in revenue to contribute back.

Ideas stay free. Anyone may implement the same concepts their own way — the license protects our specific code, not the idea of gesture-driven computing.

Is this open source?

No — and we say so plainly. The GPSL is a source-available license, not an OSI-approved open-source license, because of its revenue-sharing condition. The source is fully visible and auditable, you can modify and redistribute it with notices intact, and most users pay nothing.

Full License Text

The complete GPSL-1.1 text ships in every Gestura repository. Version 1.1 (July 2026) hardened the 1.0 text — definitions, election mechanics, cure periods, audit limits, trademark reservation — without changing rates or free-use categories. Recipients of 1.0 may stay on 1.0 or adopt 1.1.
